KIT!
The A4 menu template. ⋯ › Brand kit… opens the brand kit dialog and the Café & bakery example kit, Hearth & Crumb, is added with its colours, fonts and text fields. Apply to document sets the menu in the café’s fonts and colours and puts its name at the top.
A bakery that looks the same on every bit of paper
Our example is Hearth & Crumb: slow bread, strong coffee, a counter on Alder Street. It is one of the example brand kits that ships in PopCraft, so you can follow along with exactly what we used. Rust brown, a honey accent, cream paper, a serif for headings.
A bakery runs on paper more than you'd think. A menu on every table. Invoices for the cafés it supplies. A proposal for the wedding that wants four hundred brioche buns. An agreement so the wedding pays. Stickers for the boxes. A certificate for whoever finishes Saturday's bread class. Usually each one is made in a different app by a different person on a different afternoon, and the brown is a slightly different brown every time.
Here is the other way: one kit, seven templates, every piece matching, in one afternoon.
Change the kit, everything follows
Every one of these templates binds its colours to brand variables and its type to text styles. A brand kit is the value that fills them. So applying a kit isn't a recolour; the template was built to be worn.
The menu, in the bakery’s own hand
Start where the customers look. The Menu template is A4: the restaurant name at the top, a strapline, then courses and dishes. Each dish row is a component with a name, a description and a price, so adding the cardamom bun is one more row that already matches.
⋯ › Brand kit…, pick the café's kit, Apply to document. Cream paper, rust headings, the serif on the name. The restaurant name itself is a field on the menu you set once: in the clip it still says the template's Harbour Kitchen, and that's the one line you'd type.
The A4 menu template. ⋯ › Brand kit… opens the brand kit dialog and the Café & bakery example kit, Hearth & Crumb, is added with its colours, fonts and text fields. Apply to document sets the menu in the café’s fonts and colours and puts its name at the top.
The invoice for the café down the road
Hearth & Crumb supplies bread to two cafés. The Invoice template has from, to, an invoice number, a date, the line items and a total big enough that nobody misses it. Same kit, same click: the total turns honey, the type turns serif.
Plainly: it's a good-looking page, not accounting software. You type the lines and the total; it doesn't add them up or chase anyone. Export it as a PDF, attach it to an email, done.
The A4 invoice template. ⋯ › Brand kit… and the same Café & bakery kit is added; Apply to document recolours the invoice and its total, and sets its fonts.
The paperwork with a signature on it
The wedding wants a quote. The Proposal template is one Letter page: a title, the client, the date, a line of scope, then costed phases in a table that's made of components, so a fourth phase looks like the first three. The template's own example scope reads like a real one: “Six weeks, in three parts.” Replace it with tastings, baking and delivery.
They say yes. The Agreement template is numbered clauses on US Legal: scope, dates, what happens if the cake is late. The layout is ours; the words are yours, or your lawyer's. Then the Letterhead for the thank-you letter: header, footer and page numbers live on a master page, so page two of a long letter has the address and “Page 2 of 2” without you touching it.
A launch post with its headline selected. The command palette (Command-K) runs Create component (also Command-Option-K): its icon in the layers panel changes. Option-dragging it makes an instance, which follows every change made to the main component.
The bold business card template. The Preflight tab opens in the right panel and Run checks both sides: image resolution, safe margins, bleed, hairlines, overflowing text, fonts and transparency, each issue listed with where it is.
Stickers for every box
The Sticker sheet is A4 with twelve stickers made from one component. Recolour the component and all twelve follow; in the clip the kit turns them honey in one go. The words on the template are shouty on purpose (POP!, BAM!, SHIP IT): swap them for “Baked today” and “Still warm”.
Print it on sticker paper at home with ⌘P, or send the PDF to a sticker printer to cut. PopCraft makes the sheet; it doesn't drive a cutting machine.
The A4 sticker sheet template: twelve die-cut circles from one component. ⋯ › Brand kit… and the Café & bakery kit is added; Apply to document recolours all twelve stickers at once.
And a certificate for the bread class
Saturday's sourdough class ends with a certificate. The Certificate template is a ruled Letter page with what, who, for, by and when, and a name big enough to mean it. For a class of twelve, Bulk create merges a spreadsheet of names into it: one page per row, then one PDF to print.
That's the day. Seven pieces, one brown. When the bakery repaints and the brown becomes green, it's one kit change and seven clicks of Apply, not seven redesigns.

The kit, in six moves
- 1
Make the kit once
⋯ › Brand kit…. Five colours, a heading and body font, your logo, and name, tagline, website, email, phone and address. It is saved to your account. - 2
Open a template
New › File and search: letterhead, invoice, proposal, agreement, menu, sticker, certificate. - 3
Apply to document
Colours land on the template’s brand colours, fonts on its text styles, your details on its fields. One click. - 4
Type what’s new
This invoice’s lines, this week’s dishes, this client’s name. Rows and clauses are components, so a new one matches the rest. - 5
Preflight
Words near the edge, missing fonts, text that overflows its box, pictures too small to print. Each problem says where it is. - 6
Print or send
⌘P for the office printer, or Export as PDF to email a client or send to a print shop.

We make it look right. You run the business.
These are documents, not systems: the invoice doesn't do sums, the agreement isn't legal advice, and nothing is printed or posted for you. Cards for the staff are on the business cards page, and the website, story ads and specials board are on restaurants & cafés.
Questions, answered
Does the invoice add up the total or track payments?
No. The invoice template is a design: from, to, a number, a date, line items and a total that stands out. You type the amounts. It doesn’t calculate, send reminders or record payments; that is your accounting software’s job.
Is the agreement template legal advice?
No. It is a layout for a contract: a title, the parties, a date and numbered clauses on US Legal paper. The wording is yours, or your lawyer’s.
Why are some templates A4 and some Letter?
They ship at the paper each was written for: the letterhead, proposal and certificate on US Letter, the agreement on US Legal, the invoice, menu and sticker sheet on A4. Page setup changes the size, and Preflight will tell you if anything ends up too near the edge.
What does a brand kit fill in?
Colours on the template’s brand colour variables, fonts on its text styles, your logo on image layers named {{brand.logo}}, and six text fields: name, tagline, website, email, phone and address. Fields a template has beyond those, like the restaurant name on the menu, are text you set in the file.
Can I print the stickers myself?
You can print the A4 sheet on sticker paper with ⌘P. Die-cutting each sticker out is a job for a sticker printer or a cutting machine; PopCraft does not drive cutters.
Can my staff use the same kit?
A kit is saved to your account. To share a brand across a team, publish your colours, styles and components as a library; files that use it are told when it changes.
