Video editing
Edit mode is a multi-track video editor in your design file: scenes, footage, titles and music on a timeline, cut, trimmed, blended, mixed and exported.
Click Edit in the top bar (or press ⌘⇧E) and the editor becomes a video editor. A sequence plays your frames one after another as scenes, stacks layers over them (title cards, footage, stills) and puts sound underneath. Everything in it is still ordinary design work: a scene is a frame you can open and change, so a trailer, an ad or a social cut lives in the same file as the designs it came from.
Description
The PopCraft AI trailer in Edit mode: the program monitor in the middle, the bin of scenes and media on the left, the clip inspector on the right and the multi-track timeline below, with eight AI-generated shots on V1, title cards on V2 and the music on A1. Space plays the cut with its sound and the playhead runs across every track.
New to it? Start with your first cut.
Animate and Edit
- Animate is inside a scene. Keys, curves, behaviours, text, 3D: how one frame moves. See Animating.
- Edit is the order of the scenes. What plays when, for how long, over what, and with which sound. Edit never changes a scene's own animation; right-click a clip and choose Edit this scene's animation to go into it.
The window
| Part | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Sequences | Top of the left panel | Every sequence in the file, with its length. + makes a new one; right-click one to rename or delete it |
| Program monitor | The canvas | The sequence at the playhead, at its own size, with every layer composited and blended |
| Bin | Left of the timeline (the panel button) | The page's frames as scenes, and buttons to import video, stills and audio. See The bin |
| Header | Above the timeline | Sequence picker (with Sequence settings: size, frame rate, background, Loop in Present), the six tools, snapping, transport (loop, scrub audio) and timecode, in/out range, Timeline and Mixer tabs, zoom, Export |
| Timeline | Bottom | Video tracks V1, V2… stacked upward and audio tracks A1, A2… below. See Tracks |
| Clip inspector | Right of the timeline | The picked clip's opacity, blend, fades, speed, transition or volume. See Layering and blending |
| Mixer | The Mixer tab | A fader, pan, mute and solo per audio track. See Audio and mixing |
The divider above the timeline drags to make it taller or shorter (or focus it and use ↑ ↓; double-click resets it).

Start from a template
New → File → Motion → PopCraft AI trailer is a finished sequence to pull apart: eight AI-generated 3D shots (Seedance) on V1, kinetic title cards on V2 and an AI-generated 140 BPM techno track (Stable Audio) on A1, every cut on a downbeat. Its prompts are kept with the template, so a shot can be regenerated in the same style with Generate video.
