Media library

Every picture, clip and sound your team's files already hold — uploads and generated media — browsed by project and file.

The media library lists the media your files already use: pictures and videos you uploaded, images and clips made with AI, stock photos once they are in a file, and audio. Browse it to reuse something from another file instead of uploading or generating it again.

Where to find it

Reuse a picture from the media library · 0:09
Description

A launch post in the editor, signed in. The Shapes panel’s Library section lists the media in the team’s files. The team is set to Brightside Studio and the type to Images, and one of the photos is clicked: it lands on the canvas, copied into this file.

  1. Open Assets in the left rail. Library is at the top.
  2. Narrow it by project, file, type or source if you like. It always shows the open file's team.
  3. Click an item to add it.
Fill a layer from the media library · 0:09
Description

A launch post with its frame selected. Its fill opens; Image, then Library lists the pictures in the team’s files. One is picked and it becomes the frame’s image fill, set to Fill.

  1. Select a layer and open its fill.
  2. Choose Image, then Library.
  3. Pick a picture: it becomes the fill.
  • Assets → Library. Click an item to add it: a picture goes into the selected photo frame, or onto the canvas at the centre of the view; a video becomes a video layer; a sound goes onto the open timeline in Animate.
  • Fill picker → Image → Library. Next to Upload and Photos. Pick a picture and it becomes the layer's image fill, with Fill, Fit, Crop and Tile as for any image. Only pictures are listed here.

Filters

The library is always the open file's team, the same team AI is billed to: there is nothing to pick. A file that isn't in one of your teams (one shared with you on its own) shows only its own media.

  • Project — all projects, files outside any project, or one project of the team.
  • File — This file (the default), all files, or one file.
  • Type — images, videos or audio (in Assets).
  • Source — generated, uploaded or stock (see below).

The newest media comes first, and more loads as you scroll.

What is listed, and who sees it

The library is built from the files in the cloud: something shows up once a file that uses it has synced. Media only used by files in the trash is not listed.

  • Members of a team see all of that team's media.
  • Guests of a team, and people a single file was shared with, see only the media of the files shared with them — open the file and its library lists that file.
  • Nobody sees another team's media: the server checks every request.

Offline

Browsing needs a connection and a signed-in account. A picked item is copied once into the open file's own media, so it keeps working offline, in exports and on your other devices — and a pick from another file becomes this file's own copy.

Generated, uploaded or stock

Source narrows the list to where the media came from:

  • Generated — pictures, clips and sound made with AI;
  • Uploaded — files you or your team added (dropped, picked or pasted in);
  • Stock — photos picked from Openverse or Wikimedia.

PopCraft records this when the media is first saved, and the first upload of a file to the cloud keeps it. Media saved before this was recorded has no known source: it is listed under All sources only.
