Multicam
Cut between camera angles of the same moment as it plays: a multicam clip shows one angle at a time, and 1–9 switch it at the playhead.
Shot an interview or a performance on more than one camera? A multicam clip holds every angle, in sync, and shows one at a time. Play it and press 1, 2, 3… to cut to that angle as it happens, the way a live director does, then fix any cut afterwards like any other.
Description
The AI trailer with a two-angle multicam clip on V2 (the Brush strokes and Every screen shots, in sync). With it picked, the clip inspector lists the angles. The sequence plays and 2 then 1 are pressed: each press cuts the clip at the playhead and the picture switches angle; the cuts show on the timeline.
Make one
- Put each angle on its own track above V1 (V2, V3…), lined up so the same moment is at the same time on each. A clap or a flash at the start makes lining them up easy.
- Pick the angles (right-click a track header → Select all on track, then shift-click the others).
- Right-click one and choose Nest as a multicam clip.
They become a nested sequence with one angle per track, and one clip of it takes their place showing the first angle. Its sound is the angle's own: a shared microphone on an audio track inside the nested sequence plays throughout.
Cut between angles
- While it plays: press 1–9. The multicam clip is cut at the playhead and the part after it shows that angle. The picked multicam clip is cut, or else the one under the playhead.
- In the clip inspector: Angles lists them, the one showing lit. Click another to cut to it at the playhead.
Every cut is an ordinary cut: roll it (N) to move it earlier or later, or delete a piece and its neighbour fills in with a ripple delete. To change the angles themselves, open the nested sequence (right-click → Open the nested sequence).
Sync angles by sound
Description
A multicam clip whose second angle was recorded 1.2 seconds late. With it picked, Sync angles by sound under its Angles matches the angles’ sound and moves the second one into sync; inside the nested sequence its start shifts by that much.
Not lined up? Pick the multicam clip and click Sync angles by sound under its Angles (or run it from the command palette). Each angle's sound over its first minute is matched against the first angle's, and its source is moved so the same moment plays together, to within 10 ms. A clap at the start works best; speech or music works too. If the match is weak it says so: check it by ear.
