Transitions
Dissolves, pushes, wipes, whip pans and 3D transitions between scenes on V1, with their length.
A transition belongs to the scene it leads into: it overlaps the end of the scene before by its length.
Description
The AI trailer’s V1 track. The + at a cut adds a half-second dissolve. Right-clicking the next shot opens its menu: Transition in lists every transition, and Push ← left is picked; Transition length sets it to one second. Playing across the cut shows the new shot pushing the old one out.
- Hover a cut on V1 and click + (Add a dissolve): a half-second Dissolve.
- Right-click the scene after the cut → Transition in, and pick one of the common ten. Transition out sets the next scene's transition from this one. None (cut) takes it off. Every transition, the 3D ones too, is in the clip inspector's Transition list.
- Right-click → Transition length: 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.5 or 2 seconds. Or click the scene and drag Length in the clip inspector (100–3000 ms).
- Play across the cut.
The clip shows its transition as a shaded ramp at its start. The first scene has no transition in.
In the clip inspector, Curve sets how the transition eases (Ease in and out, Linear, Expo…), and Circle wipe, Iris and Zoom through add Centre X and Centre Y: the point they grow from or close to.
Every transition
The right-click menu has Dissolve, Slide in and Push from the left and right, Circle wipe, Iris, Zoom through and Whip pan left and right. The inspector has the full set, described on Compositions and transitions: Cut, Dissolve; Slide in, Push and Move out from each side; Circle wipe, Iris, Zoom through; Whip pan left and right; and the 3D ones: Cube, Carousel, Flip, Swing open and close, Stack in and out, Depth push and pull.
For a transition on a V2 layer, use its Fade in and Fade out. For sound, use a crossfade.
