Animating with the agent
Every Animate action as an agent tool: ask for motion in words.
The agent can do everything in this section. Ask for "a 6-second promo from these three frames, cut to the music" and it keys, eases, sequences, adds sound and exports, with the same commands the timeline uses. Its Motion design skill tells it how.
How to
- Ask for a result, not steps. "Make the headline type on letter by letter, then have the logo pop in half a second later" is enough: the agent reads the layers, picks presets or keys, and staggers them.
- Point at layers. Select them first, or @-mention them, so it animates the right ones.
- Ask it to read first. "What's animated on this frame?" uses
get_animation, which lists every animatable path with its keys, curves and behaviours. - Undo works as usual. Every edit is one undo step, named for what it did.
Description
A launch post, signed in. The Agent rail button opens the agent panel. The headline is selected, and a request is typed in words — type the headline on letter by letter, then pop the badge in half a second later — ready to send. Manage lists the skills it can pull in, Motion design among them.
Reference: the motion tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
get_animation | Reads a layer's timeline (length, fps, work area, markers), its timing, and every property it can animate, with keys and behaviours |
set_keyframes | Sets, moves, re-eases, deletes and clears keys on any property (named eases, CSS cubic-bezier or springs); sets rest values; mutes tracks |
edit_behaviours | Adds, edits, reorders, keys and removes behaviours: spin, sine, wiggle, bounce, loops, wrap, link, clamp |
set_timeline | Length (or fit to the keys), frame rate, work area and markers, including pause markers |
set_layer_timing | Start offsets, spans and live staggers |
apply_motion_preset | Entrances, exits, emphasis, camera moves and text cascades, with stagger |
stagger_motion | Offsets layers' start times in layer order, reverse, from the centre or at random |
edit_text_animation | Per-letter, per-word and per-line animators, and counters |
edit_3d_scene | 3D scenes, the camera (lens, position, orbit, tilt, pan, roll, point of interest), the perspective origin, lights and 3D placement |
set_shader_fill | Shader fills from a preset or WGSL, and their params |
edit_shader_graph | Node shaders built a node and a wire at a time, without WGSL |
create_motion_component | Wraps layers and their keys into a motion component |
edit_component_property | Number, Color, Motion, Boolean and Text properties, and layer inputs |
set_instance_playback | An instance's start, speed, loop, hold, range, trigger and property values |
create_composition | Sequences frames as the scenes of a composition |
edit_composition | Reorders, trims, adds and removes scenes; transitions; stage settings; markers; audio clips, fades, gain keys, pan and mute |
get_compositions | Reads the compositions: scenes, transitions, audio and markers |
edit_state_machine | A frame's state machine: states playing stretches between markers, inputs, transitions with conditions, listeners on layers |
get_state_machine | Reads a frame's state machine, with each state's stretch in ms |
add_audio | Adds sound from a URL or from the file's media store |
generate_audio | Makes a music bed, a sound effect or a voice-over with AI and places it as a clip |
detect_audio_onsets | Marks the hits in an audio clip as onsets markers, with a tempo estimate |
cut_to_beat | Trims the scenes so each cut lands on an onset |
edit_video_clip | A video layer as a clip: move (with its sound, or one alone), trim (with ripple), slip, split, speed, loop, poster, its sound's mute, fades, balance, offset and volume keys, detach and relink the sound, transitions in |
edit_frame_audio | A frame's own audio lanes: add, move, trim, fade, split and crossfade clips, and gain keys |
generate_video | Makes a clip with AI and places it as a video layer, or as a new scene in a composition |
set_show_advance | How Present moves on: per slide, the deck default and looping, per composition scene, or a composition's looping |
set_stage_view | Shows only the active frame, like a video player, or the whole page again |
export_mp4, export_webm, export_gif, export_png_sequence | Every export option, with sound for video |
export_lottie | Lottie JSON or dotLottie, refusing what Lottie can't carry |
