Titles

Add a title, a lower third or a subtitle line to a sequence in one click, change its words, and style or animate it like any text.

Titles put words over the picture: a big centred title, a lower third (a name on a bar, bottom left), or a subtitle line near the bottom.

Add a lower third, then retype it · 0:06
Description

The AI trailer in Edit with the bin open, the playhead at 3 seconds. Lower third under the bin’s Titles adds a name on a dark bar at the bottom left, as a clip on the next track up. With it picked, its words are retyped in the clip inspector’s Title text and the picture follows.

  1. In the bin's Titles, click a look (on a phone: Title in the bar under the canvas). It goes on the next free track up, at the playhead, for three seconds.
  2. It is picked, so its words are ready in the clip inspector's Title text. Type, then click away.
  3. Trim, move, fade, blend or give it Motion like any clip.

Each title is a frame of its own, the sequence's size and transparent, beside the page's other frames. To change its font, colour or layout, or to animate it (a slide in, a type-on), right-click it and choose Edit this scene's animation: it opens in Animate like any scene, and every change shows in the sequence.

For lines that follow speech, see Captions.

From the agent, the CLI, the API and plugins

add_title (the agent) adds one: text, style (title, lowerThird or subtitle), track?, start? and length?. It returns the new frame and its text layer, so set_text changes its words later.
